About the Author:
My name is, Pete Robinson and I am endorsed by the Evangelical Church to be an Army Chaplain. The “Chaplain” part in my life is just beginning to be written. I will have graduated from the Army Chaplaincy Corps Basic Officer Leadership Course by the end of August 2009 and will be starting my first duty assignment at Fort Riley, home of the 1st Infantry Division, as a Battalion Chaplain in September of 2009.
Alongside of me in this journey is my family, my most prized “possessions.” I graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2004 with a B.A. in Youth and Family Ministry, the Nazarene Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Education in 2006 and from Liberty Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009 with a Master of Divinity.
I met my wife in Kansas at college while she was there for the nursing program and I was there to play baseball and learn about professional ministry. We got married five days after graduation and a stork delivered Maya almost three years later. Also, we just found out that Kim is pregnant and is due in November 2009 with our first son! We also have an awesome dog,Bailey, our Weimaraner. He is a good looking running machine and “post-purchase” expensive German canine.
I enjoy learning, reading, meeting new people, exercising, being active, being awake, spending time with my family and being around people who enjoy the things I just listed.
The Blog:
Being baptized is not just a Christian symbol but expresses a permanent change. In the Greek language there are two examples for being baptized. One example is of being dipped or immersed while the other is of being dipped or immersed with a permanent change. It is easy to go through life and just be “dipped or immersed” in relationships without change, sometimes we may even prefer that. Positive changes in our relationships require us to “wake up”, one of my daughter, Maya’s favorite sayings and are a lot of work.
The point of this “blog” is to invite you to follow my family’s journey in the Army Chaplaincy Corps and to support and pray for us and the soldiers we will represent. My desire is that you will be positively changed by what you experience when you do this.

Pete I am so glad that you have done this, your family has been in my thoughts and prayers since you have left. I miss you all so much, but I am glad that you are where God wants you. The army is lucky to have you, just like we were lucky to have you when you were here!
Love,
Chrissy

Pete, never let what you become affect who you are. I wish you had been given more affirmation at SPAZ, but perhaps it was the Lord’s way of using a negative relationship to push you out of the nest so that you and Kim could exercise your wings of faith. Soar Pete, and let the wind of the Holy Spirit take you where He wants you to go.
To His Praise and Glory,
Daniel (ret. US Navy Chaplain)

My brother, how do I even start this note. You have been and continue to be an inspiration to me. your obedience to God is encouraging to me. Just knowing that there is someone like you in the army with the heart of God that you have helps me to sleep better at night. I look so forward to watching you,Kim and your children grow in the Lord and continue on the great adventure He has in store for you!
I agree with Dr Dan that your experiences here were needed to force you to grow and move in the direction God needed. Keep your eyes on the Lord and and now that your in the army be ready to “lock-n-load”.
Peace… Dirty D

Thank you for answering the call to love. Your faith will take you to a closeness with God you cannot imagine. I am thrilled to call you a brother-in-Christ and a blessing while you were here. I pray that the Holy Spirit continue to move in you and fill you so much that there is no longer enough room for our human sinful nature. May your family grow strong in the Lord and may you never forget who knew you before you were born.
His adopted son,

Hi. I just happened to come across your blog from the army chaplaincy page. I am currently attending Nazarene Theological Seminary and my wife attended Mid America Naz graduating in ’06. I am thinking about becoming a chaplain, but have some thoughts and concerns. Maybe we could be in correspondence with each other? I would appreciate someone to be able to answer honestly my questions without sounding too much like a recruiter (because I know that the Army is desperately short of chaplains). I guess my biggest concern at this point is, being married for only a little over a year and wanting to have a baby, what is the reality of getting deployed to a violent war-zone and being killed? We all know what the situation is in Afghanistan right now, and I’m wondering if the stability in Iraq will last. Your thoughts?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Shunk
